Cuffin’ Season

As we all know, football season is here, and basketball season is fast approaching, but one season in particular has just begun. That season would be, cuffin’ season. Usually beginning in late sept-early oct and ending in may or june at the latest, cuffin’ season is about having someone around during the cold fall and winter months to be in a temporary relationship with. Preseason would start in early sept. by scoping out the girls/boys that are in school or via social media outlets (i.g. facebook, instagram). Then right before you start blasting Drake/The Weeknd songs for the fall and winter, you make your decision on who you would like to make your “bae” for cuffin’ season. Many people believe that trying to be in a temporary relationship for a specific amount of months, is very selfish of someone, but with the growing fear of being lonely during those cold winter months, cuffiin’ season seems like a reasonable choice for some.

13993-Love_Lock     I’m not sure exactly when this whole cuffin’ season phenomenon began, but I have noticed that over the past few years, cuffin’ season has become more of a thing, with people posting applications online, calendars of start-end days of the season, and trade deadline dates on or before Valentine’s day. Cuffin’ Season has become so popular, that a song has be done about it from the rapper Fabolous, where he talks about women being busy or away during the whole summer, to then start calling him during the fall & winter asking how’s he been, to potentially be in a relationship before Christmas. Alot of people wonder why cuffin’ season isn’t for the whole year, instead of only during the fall, winter & early spring, and it’s because when it gets hot, people are out, there’s more outdoor activities, and there is a desire to mess around with other people in the summer, atleast that is what I’ve heard. Think about it, it’s a cold snowy december day, and you’re at home watching a christmas special on tv, and you’re drinking hot cocoa, but the only problem is, you’re doing this all by yourself. Every day! Summer could be no different, but atleast you’re more incline to go out, since the weather is nicer. I don’t know about you, but drinking hot cocoa by myself would & has sucked. But in rare occasions, some people could turn someone their with for cuffin’ season, into a full-time relationship. In the end, no one wants to be alone not only during cuffin’ season, but just in general. As for me, whatever happens, happens. I won’t be forcing myself to find someone before a specific time of the year, but avoiding a “lonely winter” would be nice though.
